Are you looking for a recreational therapy internship that meets NCRTRC requirements? Come to the Utah State Hospital (USH)!

What is USH?

We provide intensive mental health treatment for adults and children across the state whose communities do not have the resources to treat severe mental health conditions.
Our goal is to help patients manage their health conditions and develop life skills so they can live in their communities after their hospital stay.

What does the internship include?

  • 560 hours (14 weeks long).
  • Work directly with patients and an NCRTRC-certified recreational therapist.
  • Attend unit staff meetings and clinical staff meetings.
  • Chart patient assessments, progress notes, ICTP goals and objectives, and unit activity notes.
  • Clear patients for recreation therapy activities both on and off USH grounds.
  • Help plan, organize, and participate in recreation therapy activities for your unit and the whole hospital.
  • Other projects include research about recreation therapy programs, a project for the unit you work on, and a patient case study.
