Psychology Department Mission

The mission of Psychological Services is to deliver excellent inpatient psychiatric care to those who suffer severe and/or chronic mental illness. Furthermore, we strive to provide high quality training to graduate students, predoctoral psychology interns, and postdoctoral fellows as they become integrated into the professional practice of psychology.

The Utah State Hospital Psychology Department strives to provide an optimal working and learning environment for all faculty, trainees, interns, and fellows by stressing the importance of cultural and individual diversity in its training program. This includes a commitment to recruiting, retaining, and enhancing the growth of psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty to represent various aspects of diversity, including but not limited to age, color, disabilities, ethnicity, gender, language, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.

Doctoral internship (APA accredited) in clinical psychology program

The American Psychological Association accredited psychology internship at Utah State Hospital offers 6 full-time predoctoral internship positions. All internship positions are for an uninterrupted, 12-month period beginning August 5 and ending July 31 the following year.

Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

The Utah State Hospital offers one full-time postdoctoral fellowship positions. All fellowship positions are for an uninterrupted, 24-month period beginning August 1st and ending July 30th two years later.
